In addition to general rates, your notice may include some extra charges. These are set by either the State Government or the City helps cover the cost of important services or obligations.
The charge is collected by local government on behalf of the State Government Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) by including the levy on local government rate notices.
The levy is to fund Western Australia’s fire and emergency services, including all career fire stations, volunteer fire brigades, State Emergency Services (SES) units, Volunteer Marine Rescue Service and multi-purpose volunteer emergency units.

The service aims to provide visible and responsive community patrols, mobile and CCTV technology and safety initiatives to help prevent crime and reduce anti-social behaviour to create a safer City.
An annual fee of $60.00 is charged per subdivision to enable to provision of these services and initiatives.
State Government legislation requires that all private swimming pool enclosures must be inspected at least every four years. The City will charge a fee of $260.00 for the initial inspection which includes the issue of a certificate of compliance and an annual fee of $60.00 is charged to relevant property owner/s for the ongoing inspection costs.
Your annual rates notice includes charges for your waste and recycling services. These cover your residential waste bins (for example, extra rubbish or recycling bins).

Tip passes
City of Stirling ratepayers receive tip passes on their annual rates notice. Tip passes can be combined with other payment methods if the delivered weight exceeds the passes provided.
Fees apply after all tip passes have been used.
Tip passes are provided on an annual basis for residential use only and are non-transferable:
- Your tip pass, including the barcode, are required on entry to the Recycling Centre Balcatta paid services area
- Expired tip passes will not be accepted.
