Pay your rates weekly

There are several payment options when electing to pay rates weekly.

Payment options

Ratepayers may elect to pay their rates automatically by direct debit from their nominated bank account. Please note the City of Stirling (the City) is unable to take direct debit payments from a credit card.

Applications for direct debit weekly payments should be completed and submitted to the City at no later than 28 August 2026, for the first payment on 11 September 2026.

Applications can be submitted after the due date of 11 September 2026 but will be subject to penalty interest that will start to accrue on any overdue amount from the original due date.
Please note that any arrears (outstanding payments from previous years) will be added to the first direct debit weekly payment.

The ratepayer authorises for their rates payment, service charges, arrears, and applicable interest to be made by direct debit from their nominated bank account in accordance with the Direct Debit authority.

The ratepayer can cancel the direct debit at any point however; any outstanding rates or service charges will need to be paid in full as penalty interest will start to accrue on any overdue amount from the original due date.

Payment by direct debit continues each year until the ratepayer contacts the City in writing to advise that they would like their direct debit arrangement cancelled.

If you change the frequency of your direct debit within the financial year, a new payment schedule will be generated to reflect payments already received. A $10.00 administration fee will apply for this adjustment.

Update your direct debit bank account details

If you wish to pay via BPAY, you will need to contact the City’s Rates team after making
your initial payment so the payment plan can be manually established, avoiding any
further interest accruing

Contact your financial institution or visit their website to make a payment from your nominated bank account.

Biller code: 5231

Payment numbers can be found on the top right corner of your rates notice. The number is 10 digits long and starts with ‘10’.

If you choose to pay your rates weekly via BPAY, you must pay the weekly smoothing amount specified on your Rates Notice. Payments must be set up through your financial institution and must align with the City’s direct debit schedule to ensure your account remains up to date and does not fall into arrears.

Please note that BPAY arrangements are managed directly through your financial institution. The City is unable to set up, amend, or cancel BPAY payments on your behalf.

If you intend to make payments on dates that differ from the City’s schedule, you must contact the Rates Team so your account can be appropriately flagged and monitored. Failure to do so may result in your account appearing overdue or falling behind in payments.
