The City of Stirling’s Building Renewal Program ensures that our facilities and assets continue to meet the evolving needs of the community. Through regular upgrades and maintenance, we aim to provide high-quality, well-maintained spaces that support connection, recreation, and wellbeing to benefit the community.
The City manages more than 200 facilities, including 16 community centres, three aquatic centres, gyms and sports facilities.
The program is reviewed annually, with facilities prioritised for renewal based on a range of factors including building condition, age, safety, and functionality. This helps extend the life of our assets while improving their usability and appearance.
Building renewal works include but not limited to:
- Structural repairs
- Building refurbishments
- Energy improvements

Frequently asked questions
Each year, the City’s financial budget reflects a list of projects that Council has approved.
The program is reviewed annually, with facilities prioritised for renewal based on a range of factors including building condition, age, safety, and functionality. This helps extend the life of our assets while improving their usability and appearance.
A building renewal focuses on replacing essential components to extend the life of the building, while a refurbishment improves the internal functionality of the space.
End of life demolition buildings are aging facilities that are no longer safe or practical to keep using. They may be demolished because they’re too costly to repair or no longer meet community needs. The space is then repurposed to meet community needs.
