Whale Playground temporary closure

17 November 2025

Scarborough’s Whale Playground will be closed for up to one week from Wednesday 3 December while construction begins on new shade sails to enhance sun protection for visitors.

Once the playground reopens, works will continue, including attaching shade sails to the poles.

These works are expected to cause minimal disruption and will be completed by the end of December.

While closed, the nearest alternative playground is located to the south at Brighton Beach Reserve.
