Talk rubbish at Community Waste Education Workshop

05 November 2025

Join the City of Stirling’s Waste Engagement team for a free, interactive waste and recycling workshop at Stirling Leisure – Balga Community Centre.

The session is designed to help residents better understand how to sort waste at home, access the many waste services offered to residents and reduce household waste.

We’re teaming up with one of our most popular facilitators, Peg Davies from Lessen with Peg, for a fun session that combines practical information with hands-on learning from 10.00am to 12.30pm on Sunday 9 November.

Peg brings over 13 years of experience in waste education and is known for her engaging, down-to-earth approach to living more sustainably.

We'll start with a short presentation by our Waste Engagement team covering:

  • What residential waste services and facilities are available to me?
  • How do I book an on-demand collection service or request bin services online?
  • Where can I find more information on waste sorting and City Services?

Then Peg will lead a fun, interactive workshop answering key questions:

  • What goes in which bin… and why?
  • Where does our waste go?
  • Does stuff really get recycled?
  • How can we live with less stuff?

Plus, you can also test your skills with our waste sorting games and participate in a Q&A session. Whether you're confused about what should go in which bin or curious about how to reduce waste at home, this session will leave you informed and inspired.

A light morning tea will be provided and attendees will receive a special gift to help get started on reducing waste at home.
