Stirling Leisure – Balga has officially opened its brand-new outdoor sauna this week, providing members and visitors with even more reason to visit this highly popular leisure facility.

This exciting addition complements the existing aquatic and fitness offerings, reflecting the facility’s ongoing commitment to community health and wellbeing.

Maintaining an operating temperature of 70C, the sauna can comfortably fit eight people, so no bookings are required.

The new sauna has been championed by Balga Ward Councillor Andrea Creado, responding to strong community interest to see it delivered.

The unit was fabricated offsite by Blackout and delivered to Balga before being hoisted into its new home by crane. It is the first time the City has procured a pre-fabricated unit and it is excited to explore opportunities for similar installations across the City.

The sauna’s exterior features a mural by Western Australian artist David Ledger titled Steam and Vapour.

Inspired by the elements, the mural explores heat and moisture through rising curves, wisps and droplets. Bold colours and soft shadows capture the dynamic balance of water and warmth, inviting views into a vivid, sensory experience.

The sauna features an electric heating element, which means it is not necessary or safe to pour water or other liquids onto the rocks or other elements.
