Growing together at Dianella Secondary College

Dianella Secondary College is cultivating sustainability and cultural connection through its new Maladjiny Dandjoo (Grow Together) Garden.
This inspiring initiative was made possible thanks to support from the City of Stirling’s Sustainable Communities Grant Program and other partners.
The project, with over 180 participants, has transformed the school’s frontage into a vibrant organic garden – a place where students, Elders, families and community members come together to learn, grow and share.
Daily hands-on sessions see students restoring soil, building raised beds, planting native species alongside herbs and vegetables from diverse cultures and learning sustainable practices like composting and worm farming.
The school will continue daily garden sessions and welcome families and community members, keeping the Maladjiny Dandjoo Garden a living classroom and shared space for cultural and environmental learning.
The latest round of the City’s Community Grants Program is open until 28 February. Learn more at www.stirling.wa.gov.au/grants
