Coolbinia residents share experiences midway through FOGO trial

The sessions provided an opportunity for residents to share what has been working well, any challenges they have experienced and what support may be needed as the trial continues.

A key theme across the discussions was that many residents have adapted well to the FOGO service and found separating food waste easier than anticipated. Participants also reported becoming more conscious of their overall waste habits, including recycling practices, packaging choices and household waste generation.

Weekly green bin collections were consistently identified as one of the trial's biggest benefits, particularly for households with large gardens, while many residents praised the kitchen caddies, educational materials, collection calendars and ongoing communication provided throughout the trial including through the dedicated Facebook group.

Residents also shared valuable feedback about areas for consideration, particularly around fortnightly red bin collections and the different needs of households across the community.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the sessions and generously shared their experiences. Community feedback, together with operational data and post-trial survey results, will help inform the final evaluation of the trial.

Residents will have another opportunity to share their views when the post-trial survey opens later this year.
