City retains solid Gold Waterwise Council status

The City is proud to have been re-endorsed by Water Corporation as a Gold Waterwise Council again – 10 years since first becoming Waterwise accredited in 2016.
The re-endorsement recognises the progress we’ve made against the commitments in our Waterwise Council Action Plan 2021–26.
Gold status also means the City will continue to receive $10,000 each year to support waterwise plant giveaways for residents.
Alongside the popular tree and plant giveaway which provided 23,692 plants, we’ve continued to provide waterwise education and support through regular local workshops on conserving and protecting water, as well as waterwise verge incentives.
The re-endorsement also acknowledges the City’s ongoing work in groundwater conservation and stormwater harvesting.
Using groundwater sustainably and securing alternative water supplies is essential to keeping our city cool, green and liveable, while protecting groundwater-dependent ecosystems.
Waterwise park upgrades also continue to roll out across the City, including irrigation improvements, hydrozoning and the creation of ecozones (native garden beds).
