Lisa Thornton is a proud long-term resident of the City of Stirling, with deep roots in Western Australia. Born in Mount Lawley, she has lived, worked and raised her voice for her community ever since.
Lisa brings a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to her role as Councillor. With a background in biotechnology and leadership experience in sustainability, safety and governance, she understands how progressive, evidence-based decisions can deliver better outcomes for people and the planet.
She believes local government must work in partnership with residents, protect what matters most, and plan for a fair, sustainable future. That means making environmentally and fiscally responsible decisions, ensuring transparency in spending, and prioritising projects that benefit the whole community.
Lisa is passionate about protecting public open space, restoring urban tree canopy, and safeguarding biodiversity. She supports sensible planning that respects neighbourhood character, strengthens climate resilience and ensures access to green space for all.
Alongside her professional work, Lisa has run a small business and actively supports grassroots initiatives. She values listening, learning and empowering residents to have a genuine voice in shaping their neighbourhoods.
Lisa is committed to building a City that is inclusive, climate-ready and thriving, a place where people, nature and opportunity grow together.
