Teaching children water safety, road safety and sun safety often comes naturally to many parents, caregivers and grandparents.

However, personal safety and body safety can feel harder to navigate. This workshop supports parents/caregivers to better understand the prevalence, nature and impact of child abuse. Importantly, it also focuses on practical skills and strategies you can teach children to minimise and reduce the opportunity for harm to occur.

You will learn how to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors to help keep your children safe.

This workshop will support you to:

  • Gain greater confidence in talking with children about bodily autonomy, body boundaries, consent, respect and body safety
  • Develop practical strategies to help children assess risk, problem solve, understand the difference between safe surprises, safe secrets and unsafe secrets, and identify trusted adults they can turn to for help and support
  • Build confidence in responding calmly, supportively and effectively if a child discloses harm or abuse. Facilitated by eSafeKids, proudly presented by Parenting Connection WA with support from City of Stirling.
