For decades, the WA Gould League has flourished through the visionary contributions of educators, artists, and scientists who see the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre not just as a location for learning, but as a commitment to the protection of our local biodiversity and community.
Heart of Gould is an exciting opportunity for community members to use their voice, and creative talents, to champion and celebrate our local environment.
Thanks to our generous event sponsors at Jacksons and Zanthorrea Nursery, the competition is open to any local artist, no matter the medium (painting, print making, sculpture etc.) or style!
All works will be judged and awarded amongst four categories:
- Birds
- Landscapes
- Flora and fauna
- People's Choice.
Submissions are open for artists from 1 April, and close on the 5 June.
All successful works will be displayed to public in the centre's function room over two weekend exhibitions (27 and 28 June, 4 and 5 July). Award winners for each competition category will be announced on the exhibition closing.
For more information on submitting into the competition please read the Competition Full Terms and Conditions.
Entry into the exhibition space is free for all WAGL members or included in the $5 entry fee to the centre for all other visitors for the two weekends. Pre-registration or RSVP is not essential for entry, but will keep you in the loop on event updates!
