Pet registration

Registering your pet provides valuable information. It helps the City to plan for animal facilities such as exercise areas, and resolve pet-related issues.

Register your pet

All dogs aged over three months and all cats aged over six months must be registered.

Please note, cats must be sterilised prior to registration and therefore, unsterilised fees only apply to dogs.

Did you know?

Assistance dogs must be registered with the City. However, owners are not required to pay animal registration fees. If you are unsure whether your dog is classified as an assistance dog, please phone our Contact Centre. More information is also available in the Dog Act 1976.

Pet registration concessions

Pet registration concession fees are available for residents who hold the following cards:

  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • State Concession Card
  • Commonwealth Senior’s Health Card together with a Senior’s Card.

If you hold any of the concession cards above, you’re entitled to half-price registration fees on new one, three or lifetime registrations. Please note that Health Care Cards are not accepted.

To apply for a concession, please include a scanned copy of the front and back of your concession card/s, along with your pet registration form.
