National Bowls Championships roll into City clubs

Australia’s premier lawn bowls event has returned to Western Australia, with the City of Stirling proudly supporting Bowls Australia’s 2026 Nationals from 2 to 23 October 2026.
Over 22 days, the Mount Lawley, North Beach and Osborne Park Bowling Clubs will welcome Australia’s best bowlers as they compete across six of the sport’s most prestigious championships and 31 national titles.
The event is expected to attract competitors, officials and spectators from across the country, delivering a significant boost to local businesses while showcasing the City as a premier destination for sport and events.
City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin AM said the role of bowls is interwoven throughout the City.
“Bowls is part of the social fabric of the City of Stirling, with 10 bowls clubs, 37 active greens and almost 6,000 social and bowling members across the City,” he said.
“Bringing Bowls Australia’s The Nationals 2026 to the City is the perfect way to celebrate the contribution bowls makes to our community and help introduce the sport to new players.”
The 2026 Nationals includes:
- 2 to 4 October: Australian Champion of Champions at North Beach Bowling Club
- 5 to 8 October: Australian Under-18 Championships at Mount Lawley Bowling Club
- 6 to 10 October: Australian Para Nationals at North Beach Bowling Club
- 10 to 13 October: Australian Senior Sides Championships at Osborne Park Bowling Club
- 15 to 18 October: Australian Sides Championships at Osborne Park Bowling Club
- 19 to 23 October: Australian Championships at Mount Lawley Bowling Club.
The City is a proud sponsor of the Nationals with a $115,000 package to strengthen local awareness and support local businesses.
The City also donated $25,000 to each host club to help get their venues ready and invested $970,000 in upgrades at the North Beach and Mount Lawley Bowling Clubs.
The City will deliver a further $500,000 in upgrades to the Osborne Park Bowling Club, funded through an election commitment from Balcatta MLA David Michael under the WA Government’s PlayOnWA initiative, which aims to deliver 2,030 community sport and recreation assets by 2030.
The City will invest additional funding to build on the state’s contribution and further improve the facilities for club members and the community.
The event is also sponsored by Tourism WA, Bowls Australia and Bowls WA.
