Strength in Our Stories – Youth Week WA 2026

09 April 2026

The biggest celebration of Western Australian young people on the WA calendar begins this week.

Running from Friday 10 April to Thursday 16 April, Youth Week WA is an opportunity to recognise the enormous contributions that young people make to social, cultural and economic life in Western Australia. The theme for Youth Week WA 2026 is ‘Strength in Our Stories’, which highlights the power of young people’s diverse experiences and backgrounds to bring about change, overcome challenges and strengthen communities.

Youth Week WA aims to:

  • provide young people with opportunities to express ideas, discuss important community issues, co-design local events and showcase their talents and contributions
  • give the wider community an opportunity to listen to young people and celebrate their positive contributions.

In recognition of this, the City of Stirling is celebrating Youth Week with a number of local events, including a Drip Splash workshop on Wednesday 15 April and a celebration at Bina Parkland on Thursday 16 April.

These events are designed to give young people a space to express themselves, connect with others and learn new skills.

Beyond Youth Week WA, the City’s youth engagement efforts are driven by the Stirling L.E.A.D.S. Program – a passionate group of eight young people aged 16 to 21 who live, work, study or volunteer in the City.

Stirling L.E.A.D.S. plays an important role in shaping youth initiatives, providing guidance to the City and representing the voices of local young people. Through training, events and advocacy, L.E.A.D.S. members are supported to grow their skills and contribute meaningfully to the community.

The City of Stirling recognises that young people are not just our future – they’re our present.

Programs like Stirling L.E.A.D.S. ensure that youth voices are heard, valued, and empowered to lead.
