Osborne Park Hospital expansion – August construction update

In August, construction activity will include the establishment of a temporary car park and construction site compound, adjacent to Civic Place.
Osborne Park Hospital is undergoing a major transformation as part of the New Women and Babies Hospital Project, with the expansion of maternity, gynaecology and neonatology services, birthing suites and theatres.
Construction overview
In August, construction activity will include the establishment of a temporary car park and construction site compound, adjacent to Civic Place.
Following completion of the temporary parking, the construction site compound will be established at the corner of Limosa Close and Osborne Place.
A temporary access road will be in place via Limosa Close, in addition to the existing access from Osborne Place.
Additionally, service investigation works will continue alongside the access road off Osborne Place.
What to expect
General construction noise and vibration are expected during some activities, while asphalt can also emit an odour during the curing process.
There will also be construction vehicles and equipment in the area, including, but not limited to heavy vehicles, survey equipment, compactor and both powered and non-powered hand tools.
Some areas may be fenced off around existing services within lawn and footpath areas.
Excavation and hand digging to identify in-ground services will also take place.
The following mitigation measures will be in place to minimise impacts where feasible:
- Noise and vibration monitoring
- Water carts and hoses for dust suppression
- Temporary lighting will be directed away from properties
- Traffic control and signage to safely assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, where required.
