Sustainable Verge Award winners

Doris from Joondanna collected the prize in the Residential Waterwise Nature Strip category for her spectacular verge garden. She removed a vast expanse of lawn from her corner block to create a waterwise, nature-friendly garden with a thick layer of water-saving mulch.

The Biodiverse Residential Nature Strip award was presented to Claire from Karrinyup who converted her verge to feature native and waterwise plants creating a habitat for birds, insects and reptiles. It is covered in a thick layer of mulch with a gravel path to encourage drainage and prevent stormwater runoff.

Thanks to everyone who entered the competition, it was inspiring to see what’s ‘growing on’ in the verges across the City.
