Join us for a wonderful morning in the park, planting trees and painting umbrellas! We often forget how magical and important trees are to all of us. They keep us cool, provide shade and shelter, help us breathe, provide a home for wildlife and have natural healing properties (to name a few of their many benefits!)

Plant & Paint in the Park is an opportunity to celebrate trees by:

  • Planting a large legacy tree in the parkland adjacent to Monyash Reserve, Carine
  • Painting a stunning umbrella with help from ArtyBrellas and take home a reminder of the shade, shelter and cooling properties of trees
  • Enjoying a picnic and play in the stunning surrounds of the parkland (a sausage sizzle will also be provided by the Lions Club)

Planting opportunities are limited to 40 trees – so we encourage families or small community groups (4 people maximum) to band-together and plant one tree. Photographs of your group and your tree will be available to download after the event.

In addition, ArtyBrellas will provide a limited number of umbrellas to paint and take home. All materials will be provided, but please wear appropriate clothing for painting. The umbrellas are provided on a first served basis (no registration is required). ArtyBrellas will be in attendance from 10am to 1pm (or until all umbrellas are gone).

Please note the following:

  • As there are only 40 trees to plant, we encourage 40 families or groups to register (4 people per group to plant one tree)
  • When registering, please have your group name and 4 x participant names ready as this is part of the check out process The individual registering on behalf of the group agrees to relay all information to group participants
  • If you are an individual or couple (less than four!) and would like to participate, please email sonia.johansen@stirling.wa.gov.au with the heading Paint & Plant in the Park and we will match you with other individuals and create a group (limited spaces available)
  • Closed-in shoes (sneakers/ boots) must be worn while planting. Long pants are also recommended
  • Children may participate in both planting and painting, however parental supervision is required at all times
