FAQs
What exactly will be taking place?
The Water Corporation will be replacing cast iron pipes that are over 100 years old with PVC. Works will be carried out in a staged approach within the Beaufort Street northbound traffic lanes, which will be closed to road users during construction. The Water Corporation is working with the City of Stirling, Main Roads and the Public Transport Authority on important project detail including traffic management.
Why does the northbound traffic lane need to be closed?
The width of the road does not allow for safe contra-flow traffic arrangements, meaning the northbound lane will be closed and traffic will be detoured in stages.
How will the works be staged?
There will be three stages of works (Walcott Street to First Avenue, First Avenue to Central Avenue and Central Avenue to Dundas Road). Each stage will take about 8 weeks to complete with two crews per stage. The order of staging is yet to be determined.
How long will the works take?
Construction will take place from May 2022 to October/November 2022.
How will businesses be supported during this time?
Water Corporation will work closely with the local business community leading up and during construction to mitigate impacts, where practically possible.
