Please note the Significant Development application relates to land within the Town of Cambridge with the relevant decision maker being the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), with the City a referral agency only. The application was lodged with the WAPC on 3 November 2023 under Part 17 of the Planning and Development Act 2005. The City has not been involved in any discussions regarding the proposed development prior to receiving the request for referral comments.

The proposed development includes the removal of all existing buildings and structures on site and the construction of a mixed use development with heights ranging between three storeys up to a maximum of 23 storeys. The proposed development also includes a range of land uses including 247 Multiple Dwellings, Large Format Retail (Super Market), Pharmacy, Shop, Café/Restaurant, Medical Centre, Recreation – Private, Liquor Store, Tavern, Small Bar and Take Away Food Outlet. A brief summary of the key elements of the proposal is provided below:

  • Building Height – Maximum of 23 storeys;
  • Residential Dwellings – 247 Multiple Dwellings;
  • Car Parking Bays – 718 car parking bays comprising 507 residential, 203 commercial and 8 drop off/pick up car parking bays; and
  • Landscaping – 2,417m² of landscaping comprising deep soil area, 17 retained trees and 78 additional trees.

The application has been referred to the City by the WAPC as part of stakeholder consultation with the City required to provide comment by 20 September 2024. The City will refer the application internally to the relevant Business Units for comment and provide a response by 20 September 2024. Please note the advertisement of the application is being undertaken by the WAPC and not the City. Public consultation and stakeholder consultation closed – 26 August 2024

The public consultation and stakeholder consultation period has now concluded. Comments from the community, key stakeholders, local government and State agencies is being considered in order to inform the assessment and recommendation for the Western Australian Planning Commission’s determination of the application.
