$245,000 in local funding provided in round 3
The City of Stirling will invest a further $245,000 towards local activities, events and projects after Council approved the latest round of the Community Grants Program.
Funding in Round 3 includes support for:
- $31,000 for the Summer X Salt Markets 2024/25 Season
- $23,674 for the Friends of Lake Gwelup 2024 Program
- $21,000 for the Rotary Carine Community Fair
- $20,991 for Crumbs in the Wall to deliver a parklet on Main Street
- $20,000 for the Wembley Downs District Fair
- $20,000 for Sioux Tempestt’s month-long, 10 artist group art exhibition
- $13,313 for the Mount Lawley Bowling Club improvement program
- $11,342 for habitat restoration in Trigg Bushland Reserve.
Mayor Mark Irwin said these grants were helping to support local community priorities.
“Since the start of this financial year, just over $700,000 of an available $1 million has been distributed to local projects and programs that create a vibrant, creative, innovative, sustainable and healthy City,” he said.
“We’re providing an additional $245,000 in funding for important local activities that will fund vibrant events, local parklet infrastructure, art exhibitions, sporting club improvements and restoration of our natural environment.
A sustainable City with a local focus requires the City to rethink how we deliver services locally but most importantly be committed to partner with the community to champion activities that make our neighbourhoods better.
“A grants program that responds to identified local priorities and provides the support the community to develop and take action on issues that are important to them is paying off.”
Ahead of the announcement of Round 3 funding, the City held information sessions on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 15 February to assist prospective applicants develop their submissions.
