Candidates announced for election

Nominations closed 4.00pm Thursday 7 September 2023 for candidates for the 2023 local government elections, which will take place on 21 October 2023. 

The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) conducted the ballot draw at City of Stirling Council Chambers to determine the order of candidates for each of the City’s seven wards. 

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received two nominations for Mayor, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received four nominations for the Balga Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

OGILVIE, Elizabeth
TIN THEI, Ram
DUDEK, Michael
BLITVICH, Amy

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received three nominations for the Coastal Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

PEARCE, Colleen
PAPARDE, Rob
WHEELER, Simon

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received three nominations for the Doubleview Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

NOAKES, John
POGGIOLI, Tonia
PROUD, Stephanie Jane

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received three nominations for the Hamersley Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

NOACK, Lynne
HATTON, Chris
FOWLER, Catherine

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received four nominations for the Inglewood Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

LAGAN, David
MORRISON, Sophie
ION, Daniela

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received two nominations for the Lawley Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

FERRANTE, Joe
EVANGELISTA, Belinda

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received four nominations for the Osborne Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

DROPULICH, Wayne
FAMIANO, Sergio
THORNTON, Lisa

The City of Stirling recognises Councillors retiring or not renominating, and thanks them for their service to the community, including:

Coastal Ward - Felicity Farrelly 
Inglewood Ward - Bianca Sandri

The Returning Officer accepted nominations for the following positions:

  • Mayor: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Balga Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Coastal Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Doubleview Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Hamersley Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Lawley Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Osborne Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Inglewood Ward: two positions vacant, one term expiring October 2025 and one expiring October 2027. 

Two positions were made vacant in the Inglewood Ward due to Councillor Bianca Sandri’s resignation.
