Mitchell Fwy northbound ramp closures

21 March 2023

The Stephenson Avenue Extension project will be implementing the following traffic management controls to carry out works on the Mitchell Freeway near the Cedric Street interchange:

Mitchell Freeway northbound lane closure:

  • 9.00pm to 5.00am, Thursday 23 March 2023
  • Temporary right hand lane closure between Cedric Street and Hutton Street
  • Speed reduction to 60km/h through the works area
  • Freeway will remain open.

Mitchell Freeway northbound Cedric Street off-ramp:

  • 7.00pm to 5.00am, Monday 3 April to Tuesday 4 April 2023
  • Temporary ramp closure with the below detour in place.

The project will eventually provide a new connection from Scarborough Beach Road to Cedric Street, including a new grade-separated interchange with the Mitchell Freeway to replace the existing Cedric Street interchange, and local road links to Ellen Stirling Boulevard.

The Stephenson Avenue Extension is a key element of the City’s vision for the Stirling City Centre and once complete in late 2024, it will provide an important connection and facilitate further public and private infrastructure projects to activate the area.
