30 August 2023

The City of Stirling announces the appointment of Amanda Sheers as its new Director of Planning and Development, following unanimous approval at the 29 August Council meeting.

Ms Sheers has over 20 years’ experience in both public and private sectors and has been with the City of Stirling as Manager Development Services since November 2020.

She has held leadership roles in local and State Governments across urban planning and infrastructure strategies and projects and has held of the office of State President of the Planning Institute of Australia’s (PIA) WA Division since 2022.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the recruitment process was highly competitive, but Ms Sheers’ experience and dedication secured the unanimous decision.

“Amanda has comprehensive planning leadership experience and over the past three years, has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to her role as Manager Development Services overseeing the delivery of the City’s statutory planning, schemes, policy and heritage, building, verge control and pool inspections,” he said.

“She is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for the City of Stirling and has fostered strong relationships with her colleagues, Council and the City’s customers and external stakeholders.

“Council is genuinely excited to have Amanda join our high performing Executive team. With Amanda’s knowledge, expertise and interpersonal skills we will continue to see the Planning and Development business directorate grow.”

The appointment follows the recent announcement of previous Planning and Development Director Stevan Rodic as the next Chief Executive Officer of the City of Stirling from 3 January 2024, following Stuart Jardine’s 16-year tenure.

Ms Sheers will commence in the role Monday 20 November.
