City welcomes strong property report

The City of Stirling has welcomed a new report that Perth is the nation’s top property performer – described as Australia’s most vibrant market – and that the City of Stirling is the strongest local government area (LGA) in Australia.

The West Australian reported that real estate analyst Hotspotting founder Terry Ryder assessed Stirling and the broader Perth market against demand and sales activity as well as new infrastructure, the local economy, employment levels and the strength of the rental market.

“Some locations stand out consistently because of their inherent qualities,” he said.

“The City of Stirling, in the mid-northern suburbs of Perth, seems to perform well in all kinds of markets because of its location, transport links, shopping facilities, educational amenities and lifestyle features, including extensive parkland, golf courses, and beaches.

“The Stirling LGA also appeals because it offers a range of price points, from suburbs in the $300,000s and $400,000s to suburbs with median house prices above $1 million.”

The Hotspotting report stated that this is the second time the City had topped the nation – having taken the lead in 2018.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Stevan Rodic said the report was a welcome confirmation of the strength of our local economy and the positive growth of the City.

“The City of Stirling is the largest local government in Western Australia by population, and late last year our local economy grew from $15.7 billion in 2019 to $17.8 billion in 2021, an increase of more than $2 billion and 13.5 per cent,” he said.

“Building approvals rose 32 per cent between 2020 and 2021, and the value of those approvals rebounded to $1.3 billion in 2021 from a low of $0.6 billion in 2020, well above the pre-pandemic $1 billion recorded in 2019.

“This report is further support of the path we’re on as a local government, through the vision set by Council – to be a sustainable City with a local focus.”
