Changes to Karrinyup Road on and off ramps

16 September 2022

On Sunday 18 September at 8.00pm, ongoing work on the Main Roads WA Civic to Reid Principal Shared Path (PSP) project will require the road configuration on Karrinyup Road over the Mitchell Freeway to be shifted.

Works on the northern side of the underpass have now reached a point where the road surface is being reinstated, and the construction focus for the PSP underpass will shift to the southern side.

To enable continued construction of the pedestrian and cyclist underpass at Karrinyup Road, traffic will transfer from the southern side of Karrinyup Road to the northern side, from 8.00pm Sunday 18 September (subject to favourable weather).

Additional traffic changes in effect from this time will include:

  • reopening of the southbound off-ramp (left-turn only) to Karrinyup Road
  • closure of the southbound on-ramp from Karrinyup Road into the Mitchell Freeway, until early December.

The following existing traffic changes remain in place until mid-December:

  • traffic signals switched off at Mitchell Freeway northbound and southbound intersections with Karrinyup Road
  • the Mitchell Freeway southbound on-ramp will be closed to eastbound traffic along Karrinyup Road
  • path users on the west side of the Mitchell Freeway will be detoured to the protected signalised crossing at North Beach Road (approximately 640m).
