New pedestrian crossing Scarborough

22 June 2022

To enhance pedestrian access and safety, new crosswalks – complete with signage and lighting – have been installed near the Scarborough Beach clocktower.

Although the installation of these crosswalks may appear to be simple, a significant amount of work has taken place in the background to deliver the project since it was raised as a Notice of Motion by Councillor Felicity Farrelly.

While the City is pleased the crosswalk will offer safer crossing opportunities in this busy pedestrian precinct, please remember that we are all responsible for road safety.

Motorists are reminded to take care to follow speed limits and signage, especially in high pedestrian traffic areas, and pedestrians are encouraged to always check their surroundings before crossing the road in any circumstances.
