Strategic Community Plan – major review

25 October 2021

The City of Stirling is once again seeking feedback from all corners of the community to guide a major review of the Strategic Community Plan 2018-28, which sets out an ambitious and achievable vision for the City over the next decade and beyond.

Over the next four weeks, City employees will be joining local events from markets to fairs and pop-ups at shopping centres, libraries and more to inspire the community to play an active role in developing ideas that will ensure the City of Stirling is flourishing and sustainable into the future.

The Strategic Community Plan is the highest strategic document that sets out the City’s vision and objectives across five key result areas:

  • Thriving communities
  • Vibrant economy
  • Liveable neighbourhoods
  • Sustainability
  • Governance and leadership.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the City had taken steps to cast the net as wide as possible to capture feedback as diverse as the people who call the City home, and the updated plan will then be used to inform the City’s operational plans and budgets.

“The City of Stirling has a bold vision for our community; to continue to build the infrastructure and projects needed to maintain our standing as Perth’s second CBD, to provide the services and amenities our community expects, and to ensuring we listen to feedback at every step of the way,” he said.

“Fresh out of the local government election period, we head into a major review of our 10-year Strategic Community Plan and it is critical that the voice of each resident and ratepayer is heard and respected.

“In leading this Council, I will strive to do this with concerted effort, impactful service and integrity. Over the next month, we will go out of our way, over and above, and far and wide, to hear from local residents about their vision for the future.

“Whether that be at your local shopping centre, on a booth at one of our major events, or in your local library, City of Stirling staff are ready to hear your feedback and incorporate your views into the review of our long-term community plan.

“It’s easy and quick to provide your feedback, so this is your opportunity to shape our City, to contribute to the future of our community, and we’re so excited for what comes next.”
