Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre refurbishments

10 February 2021

The City of Stirling has committed to refurbishing Stirling Leisure Centes - Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre, with stage one of the works to revitalise the outdoor pool and plant.

Included in the City’s 2020/21 budget, works will include a new state of the art L-shaped 50m pool; a plant room upgrade; submersible swim wall; an accessible ramp; landscaping with new LED lights and barbecue area; and water polo features.

The outdoor pool refurbishment will include six additional lanes incorporating the dive pool into a 14-lane, L-shaped pool. Retiling and minor refurbishment works will also take place to the indoor pool area during 2021.

With an architect just appointed, design will be completed in the next few months, followed by procurement in late 2021, with construction due to start in 2022.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the City was proud to invest in its community facilities, particularly for such a popular Perth pool.

“Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre is a great facility that offers a huge range of services to the community, however it is in need of improvements to deliver on community needs and expectations, so we are very much looking forward to delivering this upgrade,” Mayor Irwin said.

“Our first stage of works is fully funded, and construction will reinvigorate the outdoor pool and plant, with an estimated completion date during 2023. Further works under consideration include geothermal heating of all pool areas as well as an outdoor splash pad for younger users.”

Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre is conveniently located in Inglewood and offers the following features:

  • 500m2 gym with cardio, strength and free weights equipment
  • More than 90 group fitness classes per week
  • Heated 25m indoor leisure pool
  • Heated 50m outdoor pool
  • Sauna and spa.
