Bina Parkland community fun day

08 April 2021

Residents of Balga and surrounding suburbs are invited to an action-packed community fun day at Balga’s new Bina Parkland in Princess Wallington Reserve.

From midday to 5pm on Saturday 10 April, the Bina Parkland Community Fun Day will showcase the parkland’s brand new facilities, surrounding businesses and local community groups.

A packed list of activities and attractions includes a 40-metre inflatable obstacle course, BMX demonstrations, cultural performances, skateboard deck painting, wheelchair basketball, music, kids' activities, cultural art activities and cubby house building.

The Bina Parkland Community Fun Day is a part of the City of Stirling’s Neighbourhood Event Series, aimed at creating a stronger and more connected community.

Deputy Mayor Bianca Sandri said event organisers were predicting a great turnout for the day.

“I’d encourage anyone in the City of Stirling to come along, explore our new parkland and enjoy an afternoon of fun, culture and arts,” Deputy Mayor Sandri said.

“This is an important celebration for the local community here in Balga who had a huge part in the design process of Bina Parkland, and they have every reason to be proud of the end result.”

During the first week of school holidays, kids in the local community have made the most of new activity spaces including a skate plaza, BMX track, multi-courts, parkour and playground.

The native gardens, open spaces and artwork trail have also been popular with residents out for a walk.

Deputy Mayor Sandri said the event celebrates something bigger than just the parkland itself.

“With Bina right at the centre, the whole area can expect to benefit from this free community event. It’s our hope that visitors will explore surrounding shops and cafes and when they come down to see some of the activities and attractions and I’m sure they’re going to like the feeling of community they find here.”
