Free trailer safety inspections

09 September 2020

Just in time for the term three school holidays, the City has partnered with the City of Swan to provide free trailer safety inspections on Saturday 19 September 2020.

Being held at the City of Stirling Administration Building carpark from 9.00am to 12noon, the inspections will check for the following common faults in trailers, caravans, boat trailers or camper trailers:

  • Tyre condition
  • Wheel hubs, bearings and trailer axle
  • Trailer brakes
  • Suspension components
  • Trailer chassis checks
  • Trailer lights and wiring
  • Tow hitch.

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said the inspection day was timely with more and more West Australians venturing around the state with hard border restrictions remaining in place for the foreseeable future.

“The inspection day is an extremely useful way we can help the community prepare for trips away, and it offers a bit of extra peace of mind,” he said.

“It’s likely to be a popular event and inspection numbers are limited, so it will pay to get there soon after 9.00am on the day.”

The event is a joint initiative between the City of Stirling Road Safety Advisory Group and the City of Swan RoadWise Advisory Group.

Each year, the City’s Road Safety Advisory Group develops programs and initiatives to boost safety on local roads, identifies Black Spot projects for potential funding and shares road safety messages with the community.
