COVID-19 contact tracing

30 November 2020

From Saturday 5 December 2020, the Western Australian Government requires mandatory contact registers for all patrons and staff visiting venues, facilities and businesses across the state.

Contact tracing remains one of the most effective measures in controlling the spread of COVID-19 if an outbreak occurs.

To make registering an easier process, the State Government has released the free SafeWA app. This allows you to register simply by scanning QR codes via mobile devices.

The contact registers will be used to trace people in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak, with all details otherwise remaining confidential and only stored for 28 days.

In line with the State Government’s requirements, the City will be rolling out QR code options at the following venues as of Saturday 5 December 2020:

• Gyms, indoor sporting centres and pools

• Community facilities and halls

• All libraries

• Function centres

• Mount Flora Museum.

The SafeWA app can be downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

If you don’t wish to use the QR codes, paper-based registration forms will be available to register your details upon entry at City venues and facilities.

Voluntary contact registration at events delivered by or supported by the City, and at Council and Committee Meetings, will also be available.

If you have a membership with City facilities such as gyms, libraries and leisure centres, simply scanning your membership card upon entry will be sufficient.

In the event of COVID-19 being detected in WA, contact registers will be provided to the WA Department of Health contact tracing team, to help quickly identify and assist anyone that may have been exposed to COVID-19.

We thank you for your support and cooperation on this important initiative. Remember, we’re all in this together.
