New Inglewood parklet

18 March 2020

Inglewood has a new spot for relaxing with the City’s very first parklet now installed outside Finlay and Sons café on Dundas Road.

Gaining popularity as way of supporting local business and fostering community engagement, parklets are small and creative public parks that make use of parking bays.

The City commissioned design team Respoke to design and fabricate the new mobile Dundas parklet for use in and around the Inglewood Town Centre.

Featuring a swing bench for people of all ages and ‘Jenga style’ seating, the Dundas parklet makes use of just one car bay. It is one of two new parklets set to pop up in Inglewood.

Mayor Mark Irwin said the parklet was another opportunity to attract more people to Inglewood and in turn, support local business.

“Parklets add interest and vibrancy to areas, encourage people to stay a while and also rediscover their town centres,” Mayor Irwin said.

The City is currently developing the second Inglewood parklet, which will be added to the corner of 7th Avenue and Beaufort Street.
