City suspends leisure centres

24 March 2020

The City has been liaising with the Department of Health after a customer at Stirling Leisure Centres - Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre tested positive to Coronavirus (COVID-19). The customer had attended the Centre’s gymnasium at 5.10pm on Thursday 19 March 2020.

The City took the proactive step of closing the Centre on Sunday 23 March 2020 immediately after being advised of the customer’s positive test result. The Department of Health is responsible for following-up any confirmed COVID-19 cases in the community and determining what further actions may be required.

Based on Government advice it was deemed appropriate to also close Stirling Leisure Centres - Leisurepark Balga, Stirling Leisure Centres - Scarborough Beach Pool, and Stirling Leisure Centres - Scarborough on Sunday 23 March 2020.  All other non-essential community buildings were closed on Monday 24 March 2020. These decisions were made in the interests of both public and employee safety.
