Stirling Street Beats to activate local streets

12 June 2020

Expect spontaneous driveway dance parties when a giant disco truck circles City of Stirling streets this weekend for Stirling Street Beats.

The mobile event took shape as a way of giving the community some feel-good fun amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

With some residents still staying at home until further restrictions are eased, Stirling Street Beats provides an entertaining way to bring people together while everyone continues to practice physical distancing measures.

The project will also support the local businesses and performers One 20 Productions, The Hire Guys and Streamline Entertainment.

Local DJs Shann and Azza will be behind the decks across the weekend, spinning plenty of great tracks to get everyone up and dancing.

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said he hoped to see people of all ages getting amongst the fun of Stirling Street Beats, because it’s not every day that a rolling disco visits local neighbourhoods.

“It’s been a tough start to the year, so it’s important we have activations like this to bring people together, have a dance and most importantly, bring a smile to everyone’s faces,” Mayor Mark Irwin said.

“If you’re in these areas when our roving disco truck comes through, keep an ear out for the music and get ready to showcase your best dance moves for some fun and a chance to win some great prizes.”

With large screens on each side of the disco truck streaming live DJ performances, the event is set to add its share of spectacle and activation to local streets.

Start practicing your dance routines now, as the best moves will win a voucher for their favourite local restaurant or café, plus there will be spot prizes on the day.
