More City services to resume in Phase Three

05 June 2020

With easing of more restrictions soon taking effect, the City of Stirling looks forward to re-opening playgrounds and skate parks as well as increasing capacity at its leisure and community facilities from tomorrow.

Mayor Mark Irwin said throughout the easing of restrictions by the State Government, the City of Stirling had worked hard to ensure as many services and facilities were available to the community as possible.

“Since re-opening our doors to some of our sporting, recreational and community facilities already, it’s fantastic we’re now able to re-open our grass-roots infrastructure such as playgrounds and skate parks too,” Mayor Irwin said.

“We have 350 playgrounds in the City of Stirling and we are working hard to make sure we’re ready to invite all families and community members to enjoy them this weekend.”

From tomorrow, the City will re-open the following:

  • Playgrounds (350)
  • Skate parks (3)
  • Fenced dog parks (5)
  • Outdoor exercise equipment

The following City facilities are already open but capacities have been reviewed to align with 100 people per area and 300 in total per venue, accommodating the new requirements of 2 people per 2 square metres:
Sporting fields and associated clubrooms (subject to clubs having a COVIDSafe Plan)

  • Community centres
  • Recreation and Leisure Centres, including gyms (6)
  • Pools with phased resumption of programs and competitions (Scarborough Beach Pool, Leisurepark Balga and Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre)
  • Libraries (6) also with expanded opening hours
  • Stirling Men’s Shed

Scarborough Beach Pool will also be reopening on Monday 8 June 2020.

The following services will remain closed until Phase Four, based on either State or Federal Government advice or the requirement to undertake further planning to ensure the health and wellbeing of patrons and employees:

  • Learn to Swim
  • Mt Flora Regional Museum
  • Full return of regular leisure and community centre programs
  • Balga Community Centre
  • Day centres
