Go Local First

27 August 2020

The City has partnered with the federally funded ‘Go Local First’ campaign to help rally support for small local businesses that continue to face the challenges of trading amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The national campaign highlights the vital role of small businesses in our economic recovery and encourages Australians to support these businesses by purchasing goods or services from them in person or online.

With small business accounting for 98 per cent of the 22,000 businesses in the City of Stirling, there are literally thousands of opportunities to get behind small local enterprises.

To put a local take on the ‘Go Local First’ message, the City recently created a series of short videos that highlight a mix of small businesses. The videos showcase everything from local cafés and restaurants to picture framers and optometrists in suburbs such as Dianella, Westminster and Tuart Hill.

As well as being featured on the City’s social media channels, the videos can be viewed via the City’s dedicated YouTube channel.

In line with the national campaign, the City is also encouraging the community to post their support of local businesses on social media and to add the hashtag #golocalfirst to their posts.
