Get ready for a Paw-some Day Out

22 October 2019

What upcoming community event has all the fun of a doggy obstacle course, a best dressed dog contest and 50 stallholders offering a huge array of dog-related goodies? It’s the City’s annual Paw-some Day Out!

For a gold-coin donation, you can be part of this howling good time at Yokine Regional Open Space on Sunday 27 October from 9.00am to 1.00pm. All proceeds raised from entry fees will go to Guide Dogs WA.

A highlight on the Perth pet calendar, the event will also feature an interactive kids zone, a pooch pamper station, photo booth, live entertainment and more. The City’s Rangers will also be on hand to answer any questions about responsible dog ownership.

If you need your dog registered or micro-chipped, this is the place to be. The first 20 lucky dogs will get their micro-chipping for free!

Acting Chief Executive Officer Michael Littleton said the Paw-some Day Out continued to grow in popularity and there were some new attractions added this year to keep the event fresh.

“It’s always great day out for families and this year, we have a 23-metre long obstacle course known as ‘The Warrior’ for kids to tackle, so that should be hugely popular,” Mr Littleton said.

“Our much-loved four legged friends can try some new doggy treats like ‘pupcakes’ and ‘dognuts’ or show off their skills in the Greatest Dog Trick contest.”

If that wasn’t enough, there will be prizes up for grabs in the Best Dressed Dog contest and a Dog Food Eating Challenge.

Several food vendors will be trading at the event and coffee vans will offering a freshly brewed cup to eventgoers.

Staff at the City of Stirling marquee will also be handing out free showbags and giveaways on the day.
