Scarborough community bush garden moves one step closer

20 August 2019

The City of Stirling has closed its consultation for the proposed community Bush Garden on 112 Brighton Road in Scarborough and immediate review of feedback indicates strong community interest in the project.

Residents who live nearby to the proposed site, as well as Stirling residents at large, were encouraged to have their say by taking a short survey on the Your Say Stirling platform, with the City receiving a large number of submissions and comments.

Representatives from the City of Stirling and Water Corporation conducted an on-site pop-up in August and spoke with the local community about the proposed garden and the community’s vision for the space.

The site, owned by Water Corporation, was suggested by a volunteer run Community Garden Group as a preferred location as it was deemed underused and conducive to a garden of this nature.

Stirling representatives are currently analysing and consolidating the outcomes of the comments received and will provide further information soon as part of the continued consultation process.

If approved by the Water Corporation and Stirling Council to progress, the bush garden will be designed, used and managed by the local community.
