City on show during Community Cabinet

The City of Stirling has played host to a variety of State Government Community Cabinet events.

Community Cabinets are held to give local residents and organisations an opportunity to meet with the Premier and Cabinet Ministers, to discuss local issues and open up community dialogue.

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said the City jumped at the chance to be part of the event.

“We thought this would be a great opportunity to discuss the City’s priorities with our Premier and Ministers and give them a taste of just how much is going on across the City,” he said.

As well as providing the venue for the cabinet and town hall meeting, the City hosted a breakfast with representatives from local small business, giving them the chance to engage with the Premier and Ministers on local issues.

Mayor Irwin said the City also took Minister Templeman on a tour of the City’s cultural heritage places and the soon to be launched Innovation Lab at the Mirrabooka Community Hub.

“Minister Templeman described the City’s vision and innovative projects as ‘nation building’ and was very impressed with what he saw,” he said.

“I am really pleased with the positive feedback we received from Cabinet.”

Premier Mark McGowan also used the community cabinet event to announce $750,000 in funding for an upgrade to the intersection at Erindale Road and Boya Way.

The upgrade, which will see the introduction of a roundabout, will be delivered by the City and is expected to dramatically ease congestion and address road safety concerns.
