Find activities and services available to young people in the City of Stirling.

Activities and services

  • The City offers a range of youth activities that include:

    • Scarborough Drop In Whitelion will be down at the Scarborough foreshore every Friday night from May till October 2022.  Youth workers will be onsite to chat with young people and link them into other services and programs
    • Balga Street Games Free weekly drop-in sports sessions for young people offering basketball, AFL or soccer every Tuesday from 4.00pm – 5.00pm (during school terms).  Bina Parkland, Princess Road, Balga
    • Barista Brews A full day course for young people 15-24 years providing knowledge, training and an opportunity for young people to develop industry skills
    • Whirling in Stirling Coaching workshops for skateboards, scooters and BMX participants of all ages and skill levels.  Workshops run annually commencing in September school holidays
    • Tuned Up for What A car maintenance program for young people with practical and theoretical components of owning a car.
    • Skate Competitions A one-day skate and BMX competition for young people held at the beginning of each year at Bina Parkland and Carine Skate Park
    • Youth Week Youth week is held in April of each year and the city hosts a range of events and activities that celebrate the contribution young people make to the community
    • RYDE Driver Education Program This program provides young people 16-25 years the opportunity to complete their supervised hours of driving with a volunteer driver.  For further information go to www.ryde.org.au.

    Helps young people 13-24 years in the North Metro area who are hurting from abuse or neglect, suffering from substance misuse and addiction, who are having trouble with relationships or homeless and those with depression, anger, self-harm or suicidal ideation.

    Wadjak Northside Aboriginal Resource Centre

    Empowers Indigenous people to support each other in living healthy, culturally rich lives with access to education and employment opportunities.  Runs weekly groups suitable for Aboriginal young people in Balga

    Youth Focus

    Offers counselling, education and advocacy to young Western Australian’s who are experiencing mental health issues.  Has locations in Joondalup and Burswood.

    Headspace

    Free and confidential service for people aged 12 - 25 offering support for mental health, drug and alcohol issues, physical and sexual health and help with work and study matters.  Services in Osborne Park and Joondalup

    Drug and Alcohol Youth Services (DAYS)

    A free and confidential service for those aged 12 - 21 who require assistance with drug and alcohol issues. Provides a range of treatment and support services.

    Alateen

    Support service for young people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.

    Aboriginal Legal Service Youth Engagement Program

    Helps young people appearing in Perth Children’s Court by providing support and referrals to improve their mental health and wellbeing.  Can assist with accommodation, education and training, substance abuse, health, finances, and family issues.

    Wungening Aboriginal Corporation (formerly Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service)

    Provides culturally secure and holistic programs and strategies that inform, educate, and address the harmful effects of alcohol, drugs, and other substances on individuals, families and communities and strengthen the mind and body, and heal the spirit. Has services for 8–25-year-olds.

    Balga Detached Youth Work Project

    Provides information, support, advocacy, referral, and case management to young people experiencing substance use issues, mental health issues or finding work.

    DAWN Youth Project

    Helps those aged 12 - 25 requiring support for alcohol and other drug issues.

    WAAC - Western Australian Aids Council (pronounced whack)

    Provides sexual health, mental health, support services and education.  Services are sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.

    Centrecare Youth Support Service (CYSS)

    Located in Joondalup can help young people 12-18 years with substance issues, mental health concerns, legal matters and health and fitness.

    Perth Inner City Youth Service

    Provides medium to long tern supported accommodation in West Leederville and West Perth for young people 16-25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

    Housing Support: North Metro

    Supports individuals who are exiting homelessness services but who still require additional support. Can assist with finding stable accommodation, working through personal issues such as substance use, mental health, and wellbeing.

    Youth Futures Joondalup

    Can assist those ages up to 24 years with emergency relief, crisis accommodation and alcohol and other drug issues.

    Next Step Drug and Alcohol Service

    Provides treatment and services for people of all ages who are experiencing problems due to alcohol and other drug use.

    YouthBeat

    Provides support and case management to young people under the age of 18 in the Perth metro area. Operates the YARS programme on Friday and Saturday nights 9pm - 5am in Northbridge.

    SHIFT Youth A&OD Outreach Service

    Provides help to people aged 12 - 25 years in the Perth Metro area who are experiencing substance use and/or mental health issues.

    Whitelion

    Provides assistance to young people who are at risk from harm within the Perth Mero area.  Has a range of services including outreach.
