The City of Stirling is undertaking a multi-million dollar revitalisation program for the Mirrabooka Town Centre as part of an overall Improvement Strategy.

The aim of the Mirrabooka Regional Centre Improvement Strategy is to revitalise the Centre by creating an attractive, popular and successful focus for the region's shopping, social and service needs. The Mirrabooka Regional Centre Improvement Strategy is being implemented in different phases. The City has now completed Stages 1, 2 and 3.

Current Works

A scheme amendment has been initiated to align zoning and apply new development provisions.  A specific policy will also be introduced to guide and coordinate development for the Centre.

The City has also engaged Colliers International (commercial real estate agent) to market the sale of Lots 502, 504, and 511.

Stage Three: Extension of Milldale Way and Creation of Development LotsMayor Giovanni Italiano JP

Project Details 

The future of Mirrabooka just gets better as the Stage 3 works of the Mirrabooka Town Centre have now been completed. On Wednesday 27 April 2016 the official opening event was held for the completion of the Mirrabooka Stage 3 Project in the new Library Forecourt in the Mirrabooka Town Centre. A Welcome to Country speech was performed by Mr and Mrs Eatts followed by the official speeches by His Worship the Mayor, Cr Giovanni Italiano JP and the Hon. Liza Harvey MLA, Deputy Premier. After the speech an opening ribbon was cut and all the guests enjoyed a morning tea.

The Stage 3 site alongside Mirrabooka Library provides a new main street connecting Sudbury Road and Chesterfield Road as well as two new development lots. In addition, the new street offers pedestrian and cyclist-friendly streetscape to enhance the area.

A large piece of public art in the new Mirrabooka Library forecourt reflecting the multicultural nature of Mirrabooka has also been completed. Creation of the artwork has involved extensive consultation with the public and will incorporate images submitted by the local community.

Future Works

The private sector will play a key role in the further development of the Town Centre with private investments, development of the new mixed-use development opportunities and redevelopment of existing properties. Development of Department of Housing land in the Centre will also provide significant commercial and residential development opportunities in the future.

Completed Works

Stage One: Development of Northwood Grove Subdivision

The City developed the Northwood Grove subdivision which resulted in the development of 60 affordable housing units in Parkes Estates and 30 individual housing lots.

Stage Two: New Sudbury Road, Town Square and Bus Station

The City designed and constructed Sudbury Road to improve movement and linkages to and within the Centre. A new Town Square area was constructed to provide the community with a focal point located in the centre of the development area. The existing Mirrabooka Bus Station was redeveloped by the Public Transport Authority and integrated with the new Town Square and two significant pieces of Public Art installed.
