Activities for adults

Stirling Libraries host a variety of activities and groups for adults including book clubs and games clubs. For more information on an activity please view the events calendar or contact your local library. 

Book Club

Stirling Libraries host monthly BookChat book club meetings, where you can come and read, review and discuss.

About BookChat

  • BookChat members decide on the books to read
  • Supply of the book sets and discussion notes are coordinated for a monthly fee of $5.00 per member
  • To see the current BookChat adult book clubs and meeting times, please visit our event calendar

For information about joining an existing book club or starting up a new one, please contact your local library.

Craft Club

Stirling Libraries - Dianella hosts a Night Knitters club which meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Bring along your knitting and enjoy a cuppa.

Please note that bookings are not required.

Crafters' Circle for Adults

Bring along your craft projects and join our crafters' group at Mirrabooka, Dianella and Karrinyup libraries.

  • Stirling Libraries - Dianella hosts a crafters' group which meets every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 4.30pm
  • Stirling Libraries - Mirrabooka hosts a crafters' group which meets every Thursday from 10.00am to 12.00noon
  • Stirling Libraries - Karrinyup hosts a crafters group which meets every Tuesday from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

English Conversation Group

If you want to improve your English and meet new people at the same time. 

Stirling Libraries - Osborne runs English conversation groups every Monday from 6.30pm - 7.30pm and every Thursday from 10.00am - 11.00am.

Stirling Libraries - Mirrabooka runs English conversation groups every Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and every Wednesday from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Stirling Libraries - Scarborough runs English conversation groups every Tuesday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.

Everyone is welcome and bookings are not necessary.

Stirling Librarians are available for one-on-one sessions, to help you with basic computer and tech questions, such as internet searching, using the library catalogue, online resources and more! Contact your library to book a session.

Games club

Learn Canasta 5 at Stirling Libraries - Dianella. This game can be played individually or in a partnership. Join us on Mondays from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

Scrabble Club

Play Scrabble for fun and enjoy the company of others.

  • Stirling Libraries - Dianella hosts a Scrabble Club which meets every Wednesday at 10.00am
  • Stirling Libraries - Osborne hosts a Scrabble Club which meets every Friday at 10.00am
  • Stirling Libraries - Scarborough hosts a Scrabble Club which meets every Tuesday at 1.00pm.

Mahjong Club

Learn to play Mahjong and meet new people.

  • Stirling Libraries - Osborne hosts two Mahjong sessions on Wednesdays 9.30am - 11.30am and Thursdays 1.00pm - 3.00pm (bookings are essential please call 9205 7900 to reserve your spot).
  • Stirling Libraries - Scarborough hosts two Mahjong sessions on Tuesdays 9.30am and Thursdays 12.00noon.
  • Stirling Libraries - Dianella hosts a drop-in session for experienced mahjong players on Wednesdays 5.30pm.

Please note that bookings are not required for Stirling Libraries - Dianella and Stirling Libraries -Scarborough.

Tax Help 2020

Tax Help is a network of ATO-trained and accredited community volunteers who provide a free and confidential service to help people complete their tax returns online using myTax. You may be eligible for the Tax Help program if your income is around $60,000 or less and you have simple tax affairs. To find out more about eligibility requirements, visit the ATO website.

City of Stirling Libraries will be hosting Tax Help sessions from July to October 2020. More information about these sessions will be available in June 2020.


Be Connected Tech Help

Be Connected Tech Help program is here to increase the confidence, technical skills and online safety of older Australians.

Be Connected is an Australian government initiative. The program aims to empower everyone to use the internet and everyday technology, through online resources, Australians can learn the basics of using digital devices.

Trained volunteers are available at each library branch on certain days and times. This free assistance is available as a drop in service, no need to book!

We recommend you bring your own device with you to get the most out of these sessions.
