Community services volunteers

Our community services volunteers are a vital link in providing essential services for people living in the City of Stirling - especially those people who are socially isolated, elderly, living with a disability or new to our community. We have 450 active volunteers, in 35 different community services roles within the community.

If you’re looking for a long-term, meaningful volunteering opportunity in community services, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator on (08) 9205 8483 or email volunteerservices@stirling.wa.gov.au.

Conservation volunteers

Do you want to meet like-minded people, be part of a friendly and passionate community and contribute to caring for your local environment?

Conservation Volunteers are members of the community who work closely with the City in the restoration and management of our natural areas. Conservation Volunteers help with tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, clean-ups and conservation surveys.

We have a number of Conservation Volunteering groups in the City of Stirling. These groups help conserve local bush, wetland and coastal areas. If you would like to become a Conservation Volunteer, register your interest by contacting one of the groups below. Alternatively, if you would like to register your own Conservation Volunteer Group please contact the Natural Areas team via the Customer Enquiry Form.

Top tip

When visiting their local park, many people take a bag with them to collect rubbish. Please dispose of this litter at home or in the park bin. Please don’t leave bags of litter beside the bin for scavenging birds or the wind, which will undo all of your hard work!

Community sustainability groups and volunteering

Transition Towns Stirling

Transition Towns Stirling is a community group based in the City of Stirling and surrounds. Its purpose is to reconnect the community with the common goal of sharing knowledge for living more sustainably. They meet regularly and run a variety of free or low-cost community events including movie nights, and workshops for home and garden including sewing, cooking and gardening.

For more information, please visit the Transition Towns Stirling website.

Turtle Tracker volunteer

The City of Stirling has teamed up with Murdoch University and the South West Metropolitan Alliance to participate in the "Saving Our Snake Necked Turtle Project".

This project aims to help protect a near-threatened species of Snake Necked Turtle. This wetland dwelling species is increasingly under threat due to lack of suitable nesting habitat, predation, and mortality from road collisions.

We are seeking expressions of interest for on ground volunteers to help with turtle nesting monitoring and conservation as part of this project. To learn more about this role check out the Turtle Tracker Position Description.

To submit your expression of interest to the SOSNT Project team, please click the link below. They will forward your details to the City of Stirling upon successful completion.
