Transition Town Stirling is a community group based in the City of Stirling and surrounds. It's purpose is to reconnect community with the common goal of sharing knowledge for living more sustainably.For information about their upcoming events visit their website or the Stirling Farmers Markets first Sunday of each month.Responsible Cafes ProgramThe City of Stirlinghas supported the Responsible Cafes Program. The program aims to connect cafes to environmentally conscious consumers and help reduce the waste generated by takeaway cups and lids. Participating cafes offer their customers a discount or incentive to bring their own reusable takeaway cup and are then promoted by the Responsible Cafes Program and the City of Stirling. Visit the Responsible Cafes website for more infomation.Groat Street Festival The second Groat Street Festival, held on Saturday 24 October 2015 in North Beach, was a great success with attendance reaching 5,000 to 6,000 people - doubling the previous year's numbers! Adults and children enjoyed gardening and DIY workshops, local entertainers and musicians, bush walks in Star Swamp and browsing through dozens marquees of small local businesses and not-for-profit organisations. The 2017 event is currently in the planning stages. The event organisers and Transitions Town Stirling are looking for volunteers to help make the event possible. Community Garden EventsMany of the community garden's in the City host a variety of events including composting demonstrations, worm farming workshops, chook keeping presentations, seed saving and more.
