The City of Stirling is offering a range of incentives, rebates and workshops to help residents take action tolive a more sustainable lifestyle by:

  • Using less water

  • Reducing energy use

  • Reducing waste

  • Greening our City



​Plant giveaway day

Register to collect 20 native plants for your verge, or 20 waterwise edible herbs for your verge, or two shade trees for your garden at our plant giveaway day. 

Saturday 19 May 2018, 9.00am-12.00pm 

Stirling Community Centre – Mirrabooka, Corner Dryandra Dr and Pendular Gardens, Mirrabooka.

 Verge Grass Replacement Rebate

A limited number of rebates to the value of $250 will be made available to residents replacing irrigated grass on their verge with new native Waterwise gardens. The rebate will be paid on the completion of works and is subject to current before and after photos being supplied.

​Home Sustainability Audit

 Receive a free 90 minute home energy and water audit and personalised action plan. The audit will help you to understand and reduce your electricity, gas and water usage. Audits will be conducted from November 2017 to May 2018 unless all audits are allocated earlier.

 Following your registration, the auditor will contact you directly within one month to arrange a convenient time for the audit.

 This offer is available to both tenants and homeowners in the City of Stirling.

Food waste workshops

Learn about the three main ways to turn your kitchen scraps into compost or worm castings that your garden will love. Includes worm farming, composting, and bokashi (a no-smell, no-mess indoor fermentation composting system perfect for small spaces). Please note you may opt to attend part or all of the workshop.

The first 30 residents to register will receive 1000 free worms at the workshop. To build a DIY worm farm please bring a bucket and two salvaged foam boxes to the workshop.

Waterwise gardening workshop

Learn how to create a beautiful waterwise garden with gardening and sustainability expert Chris Ferreira. Includes caring for and choosing natives, Waterwise verge design principles and gardening techniques including soil improvement, mulching, irrigation and slow release fertilisers.

 Right tree in the right place workshop

Get help choosing and caring for the right tree for your home. Gardening and sustainability expert Chris Ferreira discusses tree selection for shading and cooling, biodiversity, soil preparation and general maintenance.
