Winter school holidays in the City of Stirling

As winter settles in, the City of Stirling comes alive with cosy corners, creative escapes, and family-friendly adventures.
Whether you're looking to explore the great outdoors, dive into hands-on fun, or simply enjoy a comforting bite to eat, there's something to delight every age and energy level these July school holidays. Here’s your guide to making the most of winter in Stirling.
Storytime and nature at Lake Gwelup
Start your holidays with a gentle wander along the Lake Gwelup Story Trail. This self-guided trail blends nature and storytelling, perfect for little legs and curious minds. Bring a thermos of hot chocolate and discover tales that come to life along the 2.4km fully accessible trail. You can even download the Play Trail app for an added layer of fun and education for the kids.
Scarborough Sunset Markets – Winter Edition
Every Saturday evening, the Scarborough Sunset Markets light up the coast with fire pits, international eats, artisan stalls, and live music. Rug up and head down for a magical evening by the ocean. Kids will love the fairy lights and sweet treats, while parents can enjoy mulled wine and gourmet bites.
Stirling Libraries: Reptiles and Nature Crafts
Stirling Libraries are hosting fun, hands-on activities for kids these holidays. Children can meet reptiles up close while learning about their habitats at a Adder-able Reptiles Workshop, or get creative with a nature-inspired craft event that explores how animals build their homes. These free sessions are a great way to keep young minds engaged and entertained indoors this winter. Check the full events calendar here.
Indoor energy burn: Chipmunks Playland & Café
The brand-new Chipmunks Playland & Café in Stirling is a winter lifesaver. With giant slides, climbing frames, and toddler zones, it's the perfect place to let the kids run wild indoors while you relax with a coffee. Bonus: they offer party packages if you're celebrating a winter birthday!
Active adventures in Osborne Park
For older kids and teens, Osborne Park is packed with adrenaline-pumping options. From Portside Boulders, a vibrant indoor climbing gym with beginner-friendly walls and youth programs, to Ninja Academy - think obstacle courses, parkour, and ninja warrior-style challenges. Great for building confidence and burning energy!
Family-friendly eats
After all that action, refuel at one of Stirling’s family-friendly dining spots. The Morris Innaloo is a relaxed pub-style venue with a kids’ menu, play area, and hearty winter meals. Or check out Sunny Social at Hamersley Golf Course, a hidden gem with a sunny deck, great coffee, and space for kids to roam under the tree canopy.
Kids Pop-Up Market
Wrap up the holidays with a visit to the Kids Pop-Up Market in Yokine on 13 July – a delightful event where young entrepreneurs sell handmade crafts, baked goods, and more. It’s a great way to support local creativity and maybe even inspire your own little maker!
For the older kids
Head to Karrinyup Shopping Centre’s West Deck for all things fun. Funlab is home to Archie Brothers arcade, Strike Bowling, Holey Moley mini golf, escape rooms, and WA’s only Hijinx Hotel challenge rooms with a fun twist. Plus, catch all the latest movies at Hoyts Karrinyup.
