Become a Recycling Champion

Did you know that improperly-sorted waste costs four times as much to recycle? By following some simple rules you can quickly and easily sort your waste for recycling and help both the community and the environment!

What goes in my yellow bin?

Bubble wrap - clean aluminium foil and trays - cling wrap / glad wrap - glass bottles and jars - long-life milk and juice cartons - loose plastic shopping and cereal bags - paper and cardboard - plastic containers - polystyrene - tins, cans and empty aerosols - wrapping paper - product packaging - bottles, tins, cans

What shouldn't go in my yellow bin?

Asbestos - batteries, globes or chemicals - car parts - fabric, clothing and shoes - foam packaging - food scraps - garden waste - gas bottles - nappies and wipes.

Recycling tips

  • Remove lids and rinse all jars, bottles and containers.
  • Place them loosely in the bin.
  • Flatten cardboard and crush cans and plastics to save space.
  • There's no need to bag recyclable items - we can't recycle them if they're bagged up!
