Come join the City's natural areas team and get 'Nearer to Nature' with these great school holiday events at the Henderson Environmental Centre, Groat Street in North Beach!

Cocky Capers

Ages 4 – 7

Meet one of our most iconic species, the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, in an up-close encounter. Play some cocky games, then make your own cocky headdress and head out into the forest to forage for food.


Deadly and Dangerous

Ages 7 – 11

They bite, they sting, they spit and they spring. Discover why some of the world's most dangerous creatures call Australia home. Then get up close and personal to some real life scary species, if you dare!


Enchanted Environment

Have you ever taken a walk in the bush and wondered about the mystery of it all? If you look closely, deep into our wonderful world, you might find something magical within. Join Faerie Cara on a journey of discovery through our enchanted environment and discover how looking after nature is good for everyone.


Swamp Dwellers Discovery

Friday, 6 October from 1.00pm to 3.00pm

Ages 7 – 11

Come search for some fascinating swamp dwellers. Using a scoop net and inspection trays, you will discover wetland invertebrates and learn about their incredible features before returning them safely to their homes.
