‘Beatball’ is a monthly under-18 multicultural 3-on-3 basketball competition, along with food and entertainment, to support the youth in the City of Stirling and allow them to show off their skills in a fun, safe and social atmosphere. Find out more about the program.
The City Of Stirling’s Cultural and Recreation Departments have joined forces to form a monthly under-18 basketball event that allows talented and energetic youth to show off their skills (in both sports and entertainment) in a fun, safe and social atmosphere.
‘Beatball’ is an Aboriginal and multicultural 3-on-3 basketball competition held on the last Friday of each month. The Herb Graham Recreation Centre was selected to host these events because of its new wood-sprung flooring, air conditioning, new backboards and an abundance of staff and volunteers who are as keen and motivated as the youth themselves.
All youth aged 6 to 17 are invited to form teams. Each event includes several 15-minute games in a ‘round robin’ knock-out format. Food and entertainment is also provided as part of the program—including DJ sets and dance performances, making it a great opportunity for the youth to network and socialise.
Entry for players is a gold coin donation.
A typical schedule for each night would be:
Registrations open and food ready From 5.00 pm
Junior Competition 6yrs to 11yrs 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm
Senior Competition 12yrs to 1yrs7.30 pm to 9.00 pm
This great program supporting the youth of our City is sponsored by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and the Diversity and Social Cohesion Program, and supported by the City of Stirling, Nyoongar Wellbeing Sports and the Community Policing Office of Mirrabooka.
For more information, please visit or contact the Herb Graham Recreation Centre, or just come down on the night to enjoy yourself.
